Mr. Kang has served as a key executive in the bio/life science industry for over 25 years.

 

As a Managing Partner & Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Medivate Partners, he oversees all the key issues of the company, including but not limited to, financial & risk management, identifying deal flow, investment & portfolio management.

 

Before joining Medivate Partners, Mr. Kang founded L & J Biosciences, a US biotech company, and served as COO.

 

Prior to founding L & J Biosciences, Mr. Kang served as vice president of US subsidiary of MediPost, a cell therapy company headquartered in Korea. At Medipost, Mr. Kang was in charge of business development, and establishing strategic alliance.

 

Mr. Kang was one of the founding members of a US company TissueGenewhich develops cell therapy products for arthritis and other orthopedic disorders. During his time at TissueGene, he established a solid base for growth through successful fund raising and strategic partnerships. The company was listed on the KOSDAQ (under Korean Stock Exchange (KRX)) in 2017.

 

Mr. Kang received his BA in International Trade from Hanyang University in Seoul, Korea.

Mr. Koo, as a CPA in Korea, has 26 years of experience in auditing, tax adjustment, and consulting on acquisitions and sales of many companies.

 

As a Magnaging Partner of Medivate Partners, Mr. Koo decides key issues of the company, including finding the deals and the following fundraising.

 

Before joining Medivate Partners, Mr. Koo was the Representative of Seo-cho Branch in Jinil Accounting Firm, where he invested to USA Rare Earth, a mining company as well as K2B Bio Therapeutics, a US biotech company with successful fund rasising.

 

Prior to joining Jinil, Mr. Koo served as CEO of Jungil Accounting Firm, where he raised about $10 million capital into TissueGene, a US biopharmaceutical company and performed advisory services for IPO when the company was listed on the KOSDAQ in 2017. During his time at Jungil, Mr. Koo also raised funds for WCCT Global, Cognate BioServices, WindMIL Therapeutics, Genosco, etc.

 

Mr. Koo received his B.A. in business administration from SungKyunKwan University and EMBA from William & Mary University.

Mr. Lee has more than 10 years of experience in managing equity funds and investing in unlisted stocks.

 

As an investment manager at Medivate Partners, he is responsible for assessing corporate values based on macroeconomic analysis, deep understanding of biotech industries, and analysis of corporate financial statements.

 

Prior to joining Medivate Partners, Mr. Lee managed Wrap accounts, IPO fund and equity funds in NH Investment & Securities, Square Investment Management, HI Asset Management, and Taurus Investment Management. Mr. Lee also worked at Samil PwC as a KICPA.

 

Mr. Lee received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Korea University in Seoul, Korea.

Ms. Sohn has over 10 years of experience in an investment company.

 

As a Director of Medivate Partners, Ms. Sohn is in charge of administrative works related to PEF. Prior to joining Medivate Partners,

 

Ms. Sohn worked at Newlake Alliance Management and Keystone Private Equity.

 

Ms. Sohn received her BA in Business Administration from Ewha Womans University in Seoul, Korea.

Mr. Jung is a seasoned financial professioal with proved track records in overseas financial institutions and accounting firms for more than 10 years.

 

At Medivate, he reviews deals and manages investment portfolio, focusing on market research, industry trend analysis, and potential risk identification.

 

He previously performed valuation of financial instruments at the Federal Home Loan Bank. He also assessed corporate credit ratings at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation. Starting his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers Korea, he advised on M&A transactions and conducted corporate valuations.

 

Mr. Jung holds an MSc degree in economics from Johns Hopkins University, completed his MBA at Indiana University, and is a CFA charterholder.

Dr. Sim has about 5 years of experience in bio and pharmaceutical research.

 

As a team leader of Medivate Partners, he is in responsible for assessing technologies and corporate values based on deep understanding of biotech industries.

 

Prior to joining Medivate Partners, Dr. Sim worked at KNET INVESTMENT PARTNERS LLC as a venture capitalist, after working as a post-doctoral research associate at Northwestern University in Chicago, US and Chung-Ang University in Seoul, Korea.

 

Dr. Sim has received Ph.D. degree in Pharmacy from Chung-Ang University, B.A. in Pharmacy from Chungbuk National University and a pharmacist license in Korea.

Ms. Yu has over 4 years of experience in office finance management.

 

At Medivate Partners, Ms. Yu is in charge of supporting management including fund-related administrative works and accounting.

 

Before joining Medivate Partners, Ms. Yu worked at Osan University and Drcelltech.

Joseph Kim Dr. Joseph Kim has over 25 years of experience in senior legal roles in the United States.

 

He is currently a partner at FisherBroyles, LLP, where responsibilities include oversight and strengthening of companies’ patent portfolios. He manages an international patent portfolio of start-up, mid-size, and academic clients.

 

Dr. Kim received an AB from Princeton University (Biochemistry), a PhD from The Johns Hopkins University (Molecular Biology), and a JD in law from University of Maryland, Baltimore. He is a registered patent attorney with the United States Patent & Trademark Office and is licensed to practice law before state courts in Maryland and California.
